The AV + smart home partner for Cheshire interior design

Hidden TVs, designer keypads, invisible speakers, integrated shading, lighting scenes that suit each room — Sonor is the technical partner Cheshire interior designers bring in when the smart home needs to disappear into the scheme.

Smart home that respects the scheme

The hardest brief in smart home isn't a long feature list — it's making technology disappear into a designer's room without compromising either the design or the way the systems work. That's what we're best at. The kit has to be invisible, the keypads have to suit the joinery, the speakers can't break the ceiling line, and the cinema mustn't dominate the room when the screen's not in use. We've been doing this for 22 years and our installations are routinely photographed for the schemes they sit in.

We design our work to support yours. The lighting scenes match your mood references. The keypads come in finishes that match your ironmongery. The speakers go where you don't want a feature. The cinema room is built into the architecture rather than mounted on it. We'll happily attend client meetings with you, follow your sample boards, and take direction from your project lead.

What we install for designer-led projects

Designer keypads

Lutron Palladiom, seeTouch and Caséta in brushed brass, satin nickel, matt black — engraved with your scene names. They look like they came from the joinery.

Hidden TVs

Mirror TVs, behind-art frames, lift mechanisms, recessed wall-mount with motorised art covers. See TV everywhere.

Invisible speakers

In-wall, in-ceiling and fully invisible plasterable speakers from Sonance, KEF and Origin Acoustics — the rooms photograph cleaner.

Integrated shading

Lutron and Silent Gliss motorised shades, drapery and honeycomb — coordinated with the lighting, hidden in the joinery.

Cinema as architecture

Cinema rooms designed as architectural spaces — fabric tracks, perforated acoustic walls, star ceilings, bespoke seating. The cinema IS the design. See home cinema.

One control surface

One keypad, one app, one remote — so the client doesn't need 8 apps and 4 remotes. See Control4 + home automation.

Technology that disappears into the scheme

Our role on a designer-led project is to make the technology invisible: keypads in finishes that match the scheme, screens that hide behind mirrors or art, speakers plastered into walls and ceilings, and shading that integrates with the window treatments. We work from your drawings and sample boards, specify to suit the materials, and coordinate with the joiner and electrician so nothing is compromised at second-fix.

Frequently asked questions

Can keypads match our finishes?

Yes — Lutron and Control4 keypads are available in a wide range of metals, colours and engraved layouts to suit the scheme.

Can the TV be hidden?

Yes. Mirror TVs, art-concealed screens and motorised lifts keep the screen out of sight until it's needed.

Can speakers be completely invisible?

Yes — invisible speakers are plastered over and finished with the wall, with no visible grille.

How do you work with our joiner?

We issue dimensions and ventilation requirements for media walls, cabinets and cinema joinery, and coordinate on site.

Which areas do you cover?

Cheshire, the Wirral, Trafford and North Wales, and further afield for the right project.
