Ongoing support, programming changes, software updates and upgrades for existing Control4 homes across Chester, Cheshire, the Wirral and North Wales — whether we installed the system, you've just bought a house that has one, or you'd like a local Authorised Dealer to look after it from now on.
Control4 is a professional platform: it is designed, programmed and maintained by an Authorised Dealer rather than through a consumer app, which is why it runs whole houses reliably for a decade or more. The flip side is that a Control4 home needs a dealer relationship. Sonor has been an Authorised Control4 Dealer in Chester for over twenty years, and we support systems across the region as if we had installed them ourselves — including many we didn't.
More and more homes in Cheshire, the Wirral and the Trafford villages change hands with a Control4 system already in the walls. It is a genuine asset — the keypads, in-ceiling speakers, lighting dimmers, network and cabling are already paid for — and getting it working for you is straightforward:
Most of this is done in a single visit plus some remote work, typically within a couple of weeks of you moving in.
New scenes, schedules, keypad engraving, app users, a new TV or streaming service, a room repurposed — most are done remotely with your permission, same week.
Controller OS and driver updates, app updates on every phone and tablet, and a check that lighting, audio, video and security still behave after each one.
Older HC-series and EA-series controllers replaced with the current CORE range so the system is fast, supported and ready for new devices — keypads, dimmers and speakers stay.
If your original installer has retired, moved away or stopped trading, we take the system on: survey, a fresh project file, and support from then on.
Most "Control4 problems" are network problems. We design and maintain the network the system depends on — switches, access points and remote monitoring.
Adding motorised blinds, lighting, a cinema room, cameras or audio zones to an existing Control4 home.
For homes that rely on the system every day we offer structured support plans: proactive remote monitoring so we often know about a fault before you do, software kept current, an annual health-check visit and priority response when something needs attention. Ad hoc remote and on-site support is available without a plan.
Chester and the whole of Cheshire — Tarporley, Knutsford, Wilmslow, Alderley Edge, Prestbury, Nantwich — the Wirral (Heswall, Caldy, West Kirby), Trafford and South Manchester (Hale, Bowdon), and North Wales from Deeside to Llandudno and Abersoch. Remote support covers the rest of the UK for systems we look after.
Get in touch with an Authorised Dealer in your area. Control4 is a dealer-supported platform, so the system needs to be registered to you and a dealer needs to hold the project file to make any changes. We visit, document what is installed, transfer the account to your name, update the software, and set the system up around how you want to live in the house — usually within a couple of weeks of you moving in.
Yes. Sonor is an Authorised Control4 Dealer and takes on systems installed by other dealers across Cheshire, the Wirral and North Wales. We start with a survey and a fresh project file, then support the system as if we had installed it.
It helps if the previous owner releases the system from their Control4 account, but it isn't essential — a dealer can re-register the controller to you. The original installer's project file is useful but not required; we can rebuild programming from the installed hardware.
Usually, yes. Control4 has kept a clear upgrade path: older controllers are replaced with the current CORE range and the keypads, dimmers, speakers and wiring already in the house carry on working. A controller upgrade and software update typically transforms an older system without touching the walls.
Most changes — new scenes, schedules, adding a streaming service, renaming rooms, app users — are made remotely with your permission. Hardware additions and network work are done on site.
Yes — ad hoc remote and on-site support, and structured support plans with proactive monitoring, annual visits and priority response.
