Pool house AV & cinema across Cheshire

Pool houses, summer rooms and luxury garden buildings deserve AV that handles the heat, humidity and chlorine — designed for the environment, not retrofitted to it. Sonor specifies and installs proper outdoor and pool-house AV across Cheshire, the Wirral and North Wales.

Why pool-house AV is different

Standard TVs and speakers fail in pool environments. Heat, humidity, chlorine vapour and salt-spray make short work of consumer electronics — most domestic kit will be on its way out within 18 months. Proper pool-house AV uses outdoor-rated displays (IP-rated with anti-glare screens that work in bright daylight), corrosion-resistant speakers (typically IP66+ with stainless or coated grilles), and weather-rated cabling. We've been specifying it since 2003 and we know which brands actually survive — and which look the part but don't last past their first British summer.

We design pool-house AV from concept stage, often working alongside the swimming-pool designer and main contractor so the cable runs, speaker positions and TV mounting points are integrated into the build rather than bolted on at the end.

What we install

Outdoor TVs

Full-sun and partial-shade rated displays from SunBrite, Séura and Samsung — IP-rated, anti-glare, properly mounted. See outdoor TV.

Pool & garden audio

Sonance, Origin Acoustics and Monitor Audio outdoor speakers — rock-form, in-ceiling, or buried subwoofers for genuine 360° coverage. See outdoor audio.

Cinema in the pool house

Many pool houses double as entertainment spaces — we install proper cinema-grade audio, projector + screen setups for them too, designed around the humidity.

Integrated control

One Control4 or app interface for the pool house — lighting, music, TV, climate, pool cover, chlorine pump status. Everything in one place.

Lighting

Mood lighting + colour-changing pool lighting that schedules with sunset, integrated with the main house's Lutron system.

Smart pool integration

Where the pool has a control system (heating, filtration, chlorine, cover), we integrate it into the same dashboard so the whole pool environment is visible in one app.

Where we work

Across the wealthy belt of Cheshire and the Wirral where pool houses are common: Wilmslow, Alderley Edge, Knutsford, Prestbury, Tarporley, Heswall, Caldy, West Kirby, Abersoch, Llandudno — plus North Wales coastal homes where outdoor AV often integrates with sea-facing terraces.

Working with us

If you're building or renovating a pool house, we'd love to get involved early. The cleanest pool-house AV installs are designed in at the construction stage — cable routes through the slab, speaker pre-routes in the ceiling, weatherproof gland boxes built into the cladding. Five minutes at the architect's table is worth more than five days of remedial work afterwards. We're happy to attend a no-obligation site meeting anywhere across Cheshire and North Wales.

Designed for humidity, light and distance from the house

Pool houses and garden rooms bring specific requirements: high humidity, strong daylight, and a separate building that still needs to feel part of the home. We specify equipment rated for the environment — outdoor and marine-grade speakers, sealed or purpose-built screens — and connect the building to the main house network and control system so it behaves like any other room. Lighting, audio, video and even pool controls join the same scenes.

Whether it's a poolside TV and music, or a full cinema for the garden room, the design starts with the building and the way it's used.

Frequently asked questions

Can a pool house be on the same system as the house?

Yes — a network link to the main house brings the pool house onto the same audio, video and control system, with its own zones.

Which equipment is suitable for a humid pool environment?

Speakers, screens and connections rated for high humidity and outdoor use, with electronics housed away from the water where possible.

Can we have a cinema in the garden room?

Yes. Garden rooms and pool houses make excellent cinema spaces, designed with the light control and acoustics the building allows.

Can the pool itself be controlled?

Where the pool equipment supports it, heating, lighting and covers can be integrated into the control system.

Do you handle the cabling to the outbuilding?

Yes — we design the data and power route to the building and coordinate with your groundworks or electrician.
