Inherited a system you can't control? Frustrated by slow responses, random glitches, or an installer who's disappeared? We take over, diagnose, and rescue Control4 and other smart home systems — giving you the home automation experience you should have had from day one.
You invested in a smart home — but it’s not delivering. Lights that lag. Music zones that drop out. Touchscreens that freeze. An app that takes forever to respond, if it responds at all. Maybe your original installer has closed down, moved on, or stopped returning calls. Maybe you’ve moved into a property with a system already fitted and nobody to support it.
Whatever brought you here, the result is the same: a home automation system that’s causing more frustration than convenience. That’s exactly what our System Rescue service is designed to fix.
These are the problems we hear most often from homeowners who contact us for a smart home rescue. If any of them ring true, you’re in the right place.
Lights take seconds to turn on. Music doesn’t switch rooms properly. The Control4 app lags or times out. Scenes fire inconsistently — or not at all.
Your original installer has gone out of business, stopped offering support, or simply doesn’t reply. You’re stuck with no one to call when something breaks.
You’ve moved into a property with Control4, Crestron, or other automation already installed — but you have no documentation, no dealer access, and no idea how to use it properly.
You’re restarting the system weekly just to keep it running. Devices lose their names, scenes reset, volume levels drift, and the whole thing feels unreliable.
Smart devices keep dropping off. There are WiFi dead zones, network congestion, and the system was never built on a proper wired backbone.
Open the rack and it’s a tangle of unlabelled wires, overheating equipment, and poor ventilation. The infrastructure was never installed to a professional standard.
We don’t guess. We diagnose, report, and fix — methodically, transparently, and without pressure. Here’s what to expect.
We visit your property, sit down with you, and go through exactly what’s frustrating you. Then we open the rack, check the wiring, test the network, and review the programming. There’s no charge for this initial visit.
Within days you’ll receive a clear email report covering what we found, what’s causing your problems, and what we recommend — whether that’s a quick reprogramme, a network overhaul, or a phased upgrade. No jargon, no upselling.
Once you’re happy with the plan, we get to work. We register as your new dealer, take over the programming, clean up the interface, fix the underlying issues, and re-commission the system until everything works exactly as it should.
Unlike your last installer, we don’t disappear. We offer remote monitoring, same-day response, and proactive firmware updates. Your system stays healthy because we stay involved.
As a Control4 Authorised Dealer, we have direct access to the tools, training, and factory support needed to take over any Control4 system — regardless of who originally installed it. We can transfer dealer-of-record status, update firmware that’s years behind, reprogram scenes from scratch, and rebuild the entire user interface to be intuitive and responsive.
Control4 is a brilliant platform, but it’s only as good as the dealer behind it. A rushed installation with poor cabling and lazy programming will deliver a system that frustrates you every single day. We fix exactly that — giving you the Control4 experience you were promised in the first place.
Many of the finest homes across Cheshire, the Wirral and North Wales were fitted years ago with Clipsal C-Bus lighting and automation — also written C-Bus or Cbus, and sold over the years under the Schneider Electric, SpaceLogic C-Bus and Wiser names. It was an excellent system in its day. But it is ageing, and UK support, spare parts and active C-Bus dealers are increasingly hard to come by. If yours is playing up and the installer who fitted it is long gone, you are not alone — and you do have options.
This is the route most of our clients choose, and it is far less disruptive than people expect. In the majority of homes the existing C-Bus wiring and infrastructure can be retained — we replace the ageing control brain with a modern Control4 processor, so your walls stay intact and you gain a fast, reliable app, dependable scenes, voice control, and a system that is actively supported for years to come. As a Control4 Authorised Dealer we design, install and support the whole migration in-house, and we stay involved long after it is done.
Prefer to keep C-Bus running for now? Where it is viable we will repair, re-commission and stabilise what you have, and give you an honest view on how much life is left in it. Either way it starts with a complimentary on-site assessment and a straight answer — no pressure, no jargon.
Control4 is our core expertise, but we regularly take over and rescue systems from other manufacturers. If your home runs on any of the following, we can help.
Even if your system uses a mix of brands, we’ll untangle it and either restore it or advise on the best path forward.
A properly installed and programmed smart home doesn’t need constant attention. It doesn’t need rebooting every weekend. It doesn’t need you to explain to guests why “the system’s playing up again.” It just works — reliably, quietly, and beautifully.
That’s what Sonor delivers. Every cable is labelled, every rack is tidy, every scene is tested, and every system is designed to run for years without drama. Our rescue clients consistently tell us they finally have the smart home they thought they were paying for in the first place.
We serve homeowners across Cheshire, North Wales, Wirral, Liverpool, and the surrounding areas — from large new-build homes to period properties with existing technology. Whether your system needs a quick tune-up or a complete rebuild, we’ll give you a straight answer and a fair price.
Yes. As a Control4 Authorised Dealer, we can transfer dealer-of-record status, update firmware, reprogram scenes, and rebuild the user interface — regardless of who originally installed your system.
In most cases, yes. Slow response times are usually caused by poor network infrastructure, outdated firmware, or rushed programming. We diagnose the root cause and fix it — not just the symptoms.
Absolutely. We regularly take over inherited systems. We’ll audit the existing hardware, reprogram the interface to suit your preferences, and give you a proper walkthrough so you’re in full control.
Control4 is our speciality, but we also rescue Crestron, Savant, Lutron, Clipsal C-Bus, Sonos, Rako, Loxone, KNX, and mixed-brand systems.
Yes. We rescue and stabilise ageing Clipsal C-Bus systems (also known as C-Bus, Cbus, Schneider Electric, SpaceLogic C-Bus or Wiser) where it is viable — and where it is not, we upgrade you to Control4, usually reusing your existing C-Bus wiring so there is no need to rewire the house. It starts with a complimentary assessment and an honest recommendation.
The initial on-site assessment is included. From there, costs depend on the scope of work — a simple reprogramme is very different from a full network rebuild. We always provide a clear written quote before starting any paid work.
